Nita - Assignment 8

Still in Lesson 5 the assignment to practice this week is Panning. Not an easy task and one I will keep practicing. My first attempt at these photos (trying to keep a moving object in focus and allowing the background to blur) was in the toy section at Kmart. Playing with the moving toys was kind of fun to see how fast I could make them go while photographing. Surprised no one came to tell me off.

I figured out that it is quite hard to keep your subject in focus!

Assignment 7 - filters

Meggie no longer enjoying modelling with chapstick & clingwrap:

Brutie dog with black stocking:

Meggie with beige stocking:

Nita - Assignment 7

This weeks lesson was on filters and zooming and panning. http://morguefile.com/docs/Jodie_Coston:_Lesson_5
A lot to practice so just going to do filters. I don't have any filters for my basic camera so I tried the technique of using homemade things to simulate. A couple of different subjects....

Fozzy Bear with no filter.....

Soft focus Fozzy - stocking over lens....

No filter...taking photo in the rain on macro mode.

Cling wrap with baby oil around edges....soft focus.

Soft focus with stocking.

Definitely will be looking at a camera that supports filters when I eventually upgrade. A polarizer will probably be my first purchase.

Nita - Assignment 6

MorgueFile website is back up!!! This past weeks lesson was all about ISO, film types and white balance. Not shooting film gave the assignment a different twist.

http://morguefile.com/docs/Jodie_Coston:_Lesson_4

I ended up taking photos on Wednesday last week that looked at the ISO settings on my camera and I also played around with the different white balance settings....

ISO 80

ISO 100

ISO 200

ISO 400

ISO 800 - by this stage you can really see the graininess in the shadow areas.

Auto White Balance

Preset Tungsten White Balance - love how the white looks so blue

Assignment 6 - ISO

My camera doesn't really have that many options. I've excluded ISO 80.
ISO 100:

ISO 200:

ISO 400:

There is definately more noise on the third - but not enough to be a big deal - guess I need that DSLR... What you can see is how badly my camera focuses!

+ So I read Nita's & realised I did I different assignment (the other one you emailed me Nita) so here's the white balance part although I didn't read it properly so there's no black really...
Cloudy
Halogen light
For use with flash (although I didn't)
Sunny
I'm suddenly realising all the things I don't use on this camera!! What a difference...
