Florida Holiday Lights

Nothing says Christmas like holiday lights! My family went for a Christmas drive to see the lights in town. One area of town has an annual contest to see who can have the best display. This one won 2nd place this year.

December zoo challenge

Had trouble choosing - thanks for playing everyone!!
"It's for the birds" - in this case my hands/camera & anything else close...
"Yellow"
"Person-made"
"Wild about that butt!"
"Lights, camera & where's my treat?"
"Foot"
The "path" less travelled
"The eyes have it" (the psycho emu eyes were compelling but who can go past these?)

Nita - Zoo Challenge

OK - so below are the 8 photos that I took that I thought best represented the 8 challenge themes....

Wild about you - or "wild" zoo tourists!

Path - lookin up - pathway to the sky

Feet - thought these roots looked like tree feet!

Lights, camera, action - not much action from these guys!

Man-Made - wish I had taken a better photo of this working windmill. Can you see the running water?

The Eyes Have It - a bit sleepy really....

For the birds - hmmm - flitting around is for the birds!

Yellow - love the yellow ruffles on the edge of these flowers.

What a fun day we had trying to get photos to represent all the categories. Hope everyone else has/had fun playing too. Thanks for the challenges Mandy. :o)

Weekend Photo Challenge

As a few of us were headed to the zoo this weekend Mandy put together a few photo challenge themes to post here. You don't necessarily have to head to the zoo to take these photos, but she suggested we use the following words to come up with a photo for each category...

  • "It's for the birds"
  • "Yellow"
  • "Man-made" (or person-made if you prefer)
  • "Wild about you"
  • "Lights, camera, action"
  • "Feet"
  • "Path"
  • "The eyes have it"

If you feel like playing along, post a photo for each category. Now time for me to sort through the photos I took today to find one for each myself.

World Wide Photo Walk

It was a beautiful cloudy day at Fort Point State Park - Maine, USA. I love how serene this photo looks and how it shows the beauty of the area even on a cloudy day. A very memorable vacation photo.

Nita - Photowalk Favourites

Mandy and I met up with Simon and Donna at the Perth International Airport on Saturday 24 July to see them off on their trip to Canada. So used the location as our photowalk as well.

Tried to be a bit creative with the shots, but my favourite two ended up being very simple shots...

This first photo was taken as we were leaving the airport. Looking down on the VERY empty check in queues. Wasn't really that late at night (just after 6:30), but obviously not any more flights out for awhile. Shows how small Perth really is.

This second photo was of an old viewing machine on the observation deck. The angle it was pointing at with the handles on the side and the label at the bottom made me think it looked like a face with ears and a mouth. :o)

What photos did everyone else take on the day?

Annual Worldwide Photo Walk

July 24 2010 and it is Scott Kelby's worldwide photo walk time again. This is the 3rd annual one.
Are you hosting your own informal one wherever in the world you are on the 24th? Here is a link to the website created for the challenge.....

http://worldwidephotowalk.com/

Come play along if you like by getting out on Saturday and shooting something wherever you are. Then come back here and load your favourite shot.

Fuzzy Inspiration

I was inspired to share this photo after taking pictures of my friend's new golden retriever and the previous "fuzzy" dog post.

Nita - Photochain Round 2

The coloured lines in Mandy's photo reminded me of the lines in the clouds I took a photo of the other night.

Photo chain 2nd round

I realise this is a bit of a stretch to connect to Donna's last post - but we were experimenting with colour & light like she was... Nita proving she's still got it @ 40 :-)

This ghost gum really appealed to me, as the sun went down it changed colours and was beautiful. I had to find a way to show all three shots - I think it kind of works.

Photo Chain-2nd round

I took my inspiration from the sky in Audrey's posted picture. I love the look of clouds especially when they are reflected in water. I hope the landscape, the water, the trees or something in this photo inspires the next person. You can pick whatever inspires you.
