Nita - Assignment 9

After a few weeks off from these assignments it is time to get back on track again. We are up to lesson 6 on this website....http://morguefile.com/docs/Jodie_Coston:_Lesson_6

There are three assignments in this lesson so starting with the first one of "Landscapes" this week to see what we can accomplish. I spent an hour this morning exploring the coastline a little north of us and took a couple of "series" of photos intending to "stitch" them together to see what they looked like in panoramic view. And lucky me, my version of Photoshop has an automated feature that does this for me!

This first photo is made up of 5 shots. I pulled over onto the side of the road when I saw the grass trees and thought they would make for an interesting foreground. This is my favourite of the two attempts I made today.

This second picture is made up of 7 shots (you'll have to click on them to see the detail, but especially this second one due to the number of photos I used). After doing some reading when I got home I learned that to get the best "stitched" photos I really should have taken the camera off "auto" mode as it changes the colours slightly as you take each picture. As a result in both photos I can tell where two photos overlap slightly in the colour of the clouds. Obviously these photos could have turned out even a bit better using a tripod as well, but I am learning and haven't invested in one yet!

And finally here is a pure 1 shot photo zoomed in a bit on the water as it was being whipped up by the rather brisk breeze this morning.

Panaromic is fantastic - will need to see if I've got that feature. Imagine doing that on some of the views during the Cape to Cape. Damn I will catch up today!
