Nita - Project 52 - Week 1 - B&W

My little camera doesn't have the option to shoot in black & white (that I know of) so I ended up doing a minor edit in Photoshop to convert it to black and white. Below is the original image (it is of a little seed with a twirly top and feather like growth to help it catch the breeze - which it did just seconds after I snapped this photo) and then the final after cropping, duplicating the image, desaturating the top image, adding just a little contrast to bring out the twirl, and then letting a little of the colour of the original come through again.

I really like the final version. What do you think?

Have spent quite a bit of time on my holiday learning new Photoshop techniques. Will let you know what I do to each image to share what I've learned.

I think letting a bit of the fabric colour back in really works - what did it look like completely B&W?

The photo is against the floor tiles on the balcony (really macro made it look a bit like fabric).

I thought it was just a bit too flat in pure black and white. But I did edit it before I learned how to do some really neat thinks in mini bridge, so maybe I should try again with pure B&W??
